Bad Queers Podcast Takes Pride with GLAAD Voices Campaign

Updated: Jul 8

For the first time, Shana and Kris of Bad Queers Podcast came together in person, joining the GLAAD Voices Stay Proud campaign to kick off Pride Month with a bang. Partnered with GLAAD ( and Surface Level Podcast, this campaign featured a vibrant mix of queer voices from diverse podcasts, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

The Invite: A Sign from the Universe

Calling Kris after getting the invite to be part of the GLAAD campaign was unreal. We were in the middle of preparing for a lot of changes and wondering if all these changes would matter - and this invitation was the sign we needed in that moment. To be surrounded by friends and other Black and brown queer creators who are all making an impact in the community, I had to pause a few times to say to myself, “Not only do I belong here, I’ve made it here.” That was incredibly affirming. Thank you, Surface Level Podcast and GLAAD, for seeing and believing in us.

Meeting the Crew: An In-Person First

Despite their close friendship, Shana and Kris had never recorded together in person due to the podcast launching during the pandemic. This GLAAD campaign brought them face-to-face, not just with each other but with an array of incredible podcasts including Surface Level Podcast, FQ, Crazy Sexy Cool, Busy Boys Uncensored, SGTV, Minority Report, Bylatinmen, and Hung Up Podcast.

The Campaign Family: Love and Appreciation

Hung Up Podcast:

We were long-time fans before, and even bigger fans now! Eric and Tony are the perfect duo. From the hilarious questions about lesbian culture to their overall knowledge of important topics in the LGBTQ community - loved sharing space with them.

Surface Level Podcast:

Meeting Tony, Jordan, and Damon was everything. We’ve been manifesting a collaboration with them and they took it to another level. They created such a safe and authentic space for us to be ourselves and share love all day. Helping to put Black, Queer voices first. Thank y’all and love you!

SGTV:

J and Jerel are the absolute sweetest humans around. It was amazing to experience the allyship from Jerel and the confidence (and bday celebrations!) for J. Both of them are so intentional, welcoming, and funny. Love them both!

Minoritea Report:

Minoritea Report is family. Our big brothers in the podcasting world and I was SO excited to finally meet them in person after knowing them all these years. The warmth and smiles we experienced with them radiated throughout our time together.

Bylatinmen:

Even though we only got to meet 1/2 of the crew, Kevin gave us a personality that showed up for the entire show. Kevin kept us laughing the whole day and is one of the kindest people around. Couldn’t be happier to be able to call him a friend.
